Joyful Sound Promotions was founded in Edmonton by Ed Parkins, Willis Rennick, Robert Jensen and Harvey Burkholder in 1989. Right from the start the team made a positive statement about the level of groups they would promote by booking the legendary Cathedrals for their first concert.

Bill and Marg Griffin joined the team in the early stages. They had been involved in concert promotion in Ontario and demonstrated a passion for ministry through gospel music.

WHAT IS SOUTHERN GOSPEL?
Southern Gospel music speaks from the heart.  While the music style combines elements of blues, country, jazz, and contemporary music, it is clearly defined by electric vocal harmonies and high energy presentations.  Most concerts include good clean comedy bits along with spiritual challenge.  Joyful Sound Concerts offers excellent family entertainment..

COLLABORATIVE PARTNERS
To make the series viable, a collaborative partnership was formed with Gordie and Norma Jean Reimer in Calgary and Jim and Judi Doerksen in Saskatoon. The three promoters worked together to bring only the finest Southern Gospel groups to Western Canada.

Through the 90's and into this decade the three promoters hosted groups like the Cathedrals, The Booth Brothers, The Florida Boys, Gold City, The Kingsmen, the Hoppers, Legacy Five, Signature Sound, The Pfieffers, Greater Vision, and many others. Joyful Sound also partnered with Reimer Promotions and Camp Harmattan to found the Southern Gospel Weekend Celebration at Olds, Alberta.

PASSING OF THE TORCH
As time passed, Bill and Marg became the leaders of the Edmonton series. They were asked to take over the Calgary series when the Reimers moved to South Carolina due to business reasons. They entered the Saskatoon market when the Doerksens were forced to retire because of ill health. Marg and Bill have rebranded to Joyful Sound Concerts.

HOSTS
Bill and Marg Griffin host each concert. You can always feel comfortable inviting friends, family, or your entire small group to Joyful Sound Concerts.

OUR MISSION
In Ephesians 5:19 The Apostle Paul encouraged the church at Ephesus “to speak to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.” Marg and Bill are committed to presenting quality Gospel concerts as a way to live out Paul's admonition to “make melody to the Lord.”
